Ducommun Girod 2 per turn keywind music box

€6,200.00

Very early fat cylinder music box.

The mechanism has a 2 per turn setting, but plays 1 tune in 2 parts on the first revolution resulting in 7 tunes in total.

The plane brass bedplate is signed on the top left side and just next to the comb "Ducommun Girod". The comb has slender and fine teeth and has a very nice tone.

Some of the screws had a heath treatement and are blue colored, the mechanism is fixed to the case with 4 blued screws (2 to back and 2 to front)

The case is of the early type with endflap to the left, covering the 3 control levers. The case has rosewood veneer to all sides and fine symetrical marquetry to the top of the lid. There are traces of the original instuction paper. Some older restaurations to the case.
