Keywind Music box by Nicole Freres
Beautiful music box by Nicole Freres.
The wooden box has been fully restored and polished, it has piping inlaid on the lid and front. The inside of the box is varnished red as it should be in this period.
The mechanism plays 4 cheerful tunes as provided on the original tune card on a cylinder 20.5cm long. The finely toothed comb is all original and is signed. The music box plays without any hiccups or defects and was restored in our own workshop.

Nicole Freres was the leading manufacturer of music boxes in the 19th century and built boxes of very good quality. This is a good example of that. The serial number 27010 dates this box before 1850, when the firm was at the highest of their abilities.
Made in 1847
The box is rather simple and therefore timeless, with only marquetry in the form of black lining on the lid and front. The whole thing, case and mechanism, was restored to its original grandeur (in our own workshop) and can guarantee another 100 years of pleasure.
