Singing Bird Cage by Bontems (Paris) with 3 automatons
Rare and very decorative singing bird automaton.
Made in de 4th quarter of the 19th century by Bontems in Paris (France).
This top quality singing bird has a wooden gilded base to conseal the mechanism. In the cage there are 3 original birds in a lovely setup. There is a little (kracked) mirror on the bottom of the scene sugesting a little pond.
The bird are all in lovely original condition with brightly colored plumes.
When activated the birds all sing a song, one responding to the other, taking a little pause every now and then… all the birds move the head, and, while singing, the beak and tail.
